15 Apr Decorate your new loft conversion like a pro
Econoloft build the majority of its loft conversions in Greater London and the Home Counties – basically, those places where space comes as a premium.
Our loft conversion customers never fail to be amazed at how their un-loved, dark attic is transformed into a spacious, usable space that often opens up the whole house. For our part, we never fail to be amazed at how Econoloft customers dress their new room with incredible style and panache.
However, if you are not sure where to start with that lovely blank canvas, here’s are few tips from Econoloft’s design experts to help you on your way.
The 10 – 30 – 60 rule
This rule refers to the application of your colour scheme. Your dominant colour should take up 60% of the room (so those big spaces, such as walls and floors); a secondary, bolder colour should cover 30% of the room, while the remaining 10% should be found in the accent colour such as your bed linen and rugs. In order to ensure the colours/shades complement each other, always use a colour wheel.
The rule of three
This rule applies to how you display your items – perhaps on a shelf of dressing table. Instead of grouping two candles together, group three. Rather than two picture frames – use three. You can actually work with any odd number as they always look more interesting than grouping things in even numbers.
Create a focal point
Every room needs one – in the lounge it’s probably the fireplace but in the bedroom, it could be the bed or even a beautiful dressing table. The bed could become the main event because of a dramatic headboard and stunning bed dressings. While the dressing table could be a vintage piece framed by statement artwork or a beautifully displayed perfume bottle collection. Whatever it is, the focal point should draw your eye to it as soon as you walk into the room.
