27 Jun 3 Summery Living Room Designs
As it’s almost July (where has the sun gone?) we thought it fitting to let you in on the interior trends for summer 2013. If you’re still sitting cooped up at home, huddled under a blanket every evening then we’re positive that you’ll gladly welcome any hint of summer into your life.
Here are three summery living room designs to help you make the most of the Great British summer this year.
1. Retro Floral
The presence of flowers, whether the real deal or incorporated into your living room design, instantly brightens up any room, having the same effect on your mood too. So if you’ve been a bit down lately due to the (lack of) summer weather, introduce some florals into your living room.
This year sees the return of all things retro – while this floral carpet may look very similar to the one your Nan has in her living room, the bright blooms are guaranteed to perk you up and keep your mood cheery all summer long. You could even display some fresh flowers to match, like in this design from channel4.com – blooming marvellous!
2. I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day
It doesn’t matter how overcast and miserable the weather outside is when the inside is painted in a lovely sunshine yellow. This hue is also known to provide a calming, peaceful effect too, so you can stay cool this summer.
Check out this summery living room from bhg.com. We love the combination of natural green and blue shades to combat the brightness of the yellow walls. If this were our living room, we’d never feel glum again. The polished wooden floor and furniture adds a touch of sophistication to the sunny simplicity of the room.
3. By the coast
You don’t have to live next to the seaside to bring the beach to your home this summer. By introducing coastal elements into your living room design, you will get all of the benefits of being by the sea, without having to suffer the sand.
By painting this living room a crisp cool white, and including mainly white furniture and accessories, this room looks bright and fresh. The large window lets in plenty of natural light while nautical themed blue and red accent the white perfectly to give the impression of calm and serenity. As always, housetohome.co.uk has done a great job.
